Atmosfellix emerged on the Tokyo music scene as
an enigmatic figure, shrouded in mystery. Their music blends shoegaze, ambient,
and electronic elements. In this exclusive interview, we talk with Atmosfellix
about their influences, the choice to remain anonymous, their connection with
cats, and what to expect from their upcoming album, set to be released on July
2nd.
Atmosfellix suddenly appeared on the Tokyo
music scene. What motivated you to keep your identity a mystery?
First of all, I wanted the listener to focus on the sound, so I tried to keep the information to a minimum.
What does the name "Atmosfellix"
represent? Does it hold any personal or symbolic meaning?
It's a coined word, a combination of atmospheric and felix.
Do you feel that anonymity enhances the
experience of your music?
I think I can express a wide range of musicality.
Your music evokes Cocteau Twins, My Bloody
Valentine, and Ulrich Schnauss. How did you discover these influences?
I came across them when I was looking for a spatial guitar sound.
What elements of shoegaze and ambient are you
trying to preserve or revive in your sound?
The floating feeling of these music is an important element of my music.
What’s your connection to the music of the '80s
and '90s? Were there any bands or artists that shaped your childhood or
adolescence?
There are so many! Ryuichi Sakamoto, Talking Heads, Depeche Mode, Roxy Music, Siouxsie and the Banshees...
You live in Tokyo. How does the city influence
your music?
It's a fusion of different noises.
We know you love cats. Do they play a role in
your creative life or hold symbolic meaning in your work?
Cats are always with me. Sometimes I interrupt the songwriting and press the buttons on the instruments so it's like we're making music together. I used photos of cats for the artwork.
What can you tell us about your upcoming album
set to be released on July 2nd?
This album contains 8 songs with different moods. I hope you like it.
Are you planning to include vocals or
collaborations in the future, or do you prefer to remain fully instrumental?
The main part of this project is instrumental. But the power of singing is also attractive. In the future, if there is someone who fits the image of the song, I might work with them.

"Atmosfellix"? ¿Tiene algún significado personal o simbólico?
Es una palabra inventada, una combinación de "atmospheric" y "felix".
¿Sentís que el anonimato
mejora la experiencia de tu música?
Creo que me permite expresar una amplia gama de musicalidades.

Vivís en Tokio. ¿Cómo influye
la ciudad en tu música?
Es una fusión de distintos ruidos.
Sabemos que amás los gatos.
¿Tienen algún rol en tu vida creativa o algún significado simbólico en tu obra?
Los gatos siempre están conmigo. A veces interrumpen la composición y aprietan botones en los instrumentos, así que es como si hiciéramos música juntos. Usé fotos de gatos para el arte de tapa.
¿Qué podés contarnos sobre tu
próximo álbum, que será lanzado el 2 de julio?
Este álbum contiene 8 canciones con distintos estados de ánimo. Espero que les guste.
¿Pensás incluir voces o
colaboraciones en el futuro, o preferís mantenerte en lo instrumental?
La parte principal de este proyecto es instrumental. Pero el poder del canto también es atractivo. En el futuro, si aparece alguien que encaje con la imagen de una canción, tal vez trabaje con esa persona.
