From Germany, Steffen has emerged as one of the
fresh new voices in European dance pop. His career took off in October 2023
with the release of “Invading My Mind”,
a track that marked the beginning of a musical journey that hasn't stopped
growing. He has built a solid and versatile catalog that includes two studio
albums (Electrix and Disco Rhythm), several EPs, and a
series of singles that blend danceable beats, catchy melodies, and a
well-defined visual aesthetic.
His debut album Electrix (March 2024) and its
extended version Electrix – Voltage Edition
showcased a powerful electronic side, while Disco Rhythm
(February 2025) leaned into a retro sound inspired by the '80s, with tracks
like In the Light, one of his most
personal songs to date.
In this exclusive interview with Revista Soundloop, Steffen talks about
his influences, his creative process, and the next steps in a career that
promises to leave a mark on contemporary pop.
What are your
main musical influences and how are they reflected in your style?
Besides Kylie Minogue, there are several other artists who inspire me. Among them are Anastacia, Dannii Minogue, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Erika Jayne, Eric Saade, Darin, and many more. With “X” and the K.Y.L.I.E. project, however, the focus was clearly on Kylie. All artists have shaped me as a singer, and I think I’m just the product of all these artists influences.
How is your
creative process when composing a song?
Unlike the most singers, I'm starting to develop the instrumental first. During creating a good rhythm and a good instrumental, I'm start thinking about what I wanna tell with this song. As the instrumental completes, I have a rough idea, what the song is about. Then I'm writing the lyrics and recorded the song. Some lyrics are more personal than the others. I think till today my single “In the Light" is the most personal song I've made. It's a song about my wishes I had, when I was in the closet. Other songs like “X", I was just inspired by the electro beats of the instrumental, which set me in the mood to dance.
How would you
describe your sound to someone who has never heard you?
I'm a dance pop singer; I just want to entertain the people and let them forget about their problems for a little moment. The songs I made a perfect for a good time, getting people in the mood for dancing.
What advice
would you give to other musicians just starting out?
Just do it. When you are thinking of getting your music out, just do it. Don't be afraid. Even if your recording quality is not perfect, or you're not sure, what to expect, just try it out. It doesn't matter if you release only a single once a year or an album every month, just do what feels right. When music is your passion and you dreaming of releasing music, you deserved to be heard. When I started releasing my music in October 2023, it just felt right. I always dreamt of releasing my music and letting people know my creativity. I'm not regret making this step and 1,5 years later, I have released two studio albums, three eps and 12 singles (with my thirteen single “Tension" will be out on 13th June). I never thought, that releasing music inspires me more to make even more music, exploring new genres, and let my creativity shine. It's just an amazing experience.
What's next
for you? Are there any exciting goals on the horizon?
First of all, I’m obviously excited about the release of my album “Keep Your Light in Everything” on July 4th. “X” is just one of 17 songs on the album, and I’m really curious to see how people will respond to the full track list. My second single “Tension" will be out 13th June. After the release of “Keep Your Light in Everything”, I think I’ll start working on my third studio album. I already have a rough idea or direction for it, actually. There might also be other projects outside of music that I’d like to explore—maybe writing a science fiction novel —but nothing is concrete yet. So after “Keep Your Light in Everything” drops on July 4th, my plan is slowly starting to record my third studio album.

Entrevista con Steffen: Pop que brilla con luz propia
Desde Alemania, Steffen se ha convertido en una de las nuevas
voces del dance pop europeo. Su carrera despegó en octubre de 2023 con el
lanzamiento de “Invading

ha parado de crecer. Ha construido un catálogo sólido y versátil que incluye

¿Cuáles son tus principales influencias musicales y cómo se
reflejan en tu estilo?

Todos estos artistas me han moldeado como cantante, y creo que soy simplemente el producto de la influencia de todos ellos.
¿Cómo es tu proceso creativo al componer una canción?
A diferencia de la mayoría de los cantantes, yo empiezo desarrollando primero la parte instrumental. Mientras creo un buen ritmo y una base instrumental sólida, comienzo a pensar en lo que quiero transmitir con esa canción. Cuando la parte instrumental está terminada, ya tengo una idea general de lo que tratará la canción. Luego escribo la letra y grabo el tema. Algunas letras son más personales que otras. Creo que hasta el día de hoy, mi sencillo “In the Light” es la canción más personal que he hecho. Es una canción sobre los deseos que tenía cuando aún estaba en el clóset. Otras canciones como “X” simplemente nacen de la inspiración que me da el ritmo electrónico del instrumental, que me pone de buen humor y me dan ganas de bailar.
¿Cómo describirías tu sonido a alguien que nunca te ha escuchado?
Soy un cantante de dance pop. Solo quiero entretener a la gente y hacer que olviden sus problemas por un momento. Las canciones que hago son perfectas para pasar un buen rato, para poner a la gente de buen humor y hacerla bailar.
¿Qué consejo le darías a otros músicos que están comenzando?
Solo hazlo. Si estás pensando en compartir tu música, hazlo. No tengas miedo. Aunque la calidad de tu grabación no sea perfecta, o no sepas exactamente qué esperar, inténtalo. No importa si solo lanzas un sencillo al año o un álbum cada mes, simplemente haz lo que te parezca correcto. Si la música es tu pasión y sueñas con compartirla, mereces que te escuchen. Cuando comencé a publicar mi música en octubre de 2023, simplemente se sintió correcto. Siempre soñé con lanzar mi música y mostrarle al mundo mi creatividad. No me arrepiento de haber dado ese paso y, un año y medio después, ya he lanzado dos álbumes de estudio, tres EPs y 12 sencillos (y mi decimotercer sencillo “Tension” saldrá el 13 de junio). Nunca pensé que publicar música me inspiraría aún más a crear, explorar nuevos géneros y dejar que mi creatividad brille. Es una experiencia maravillosa.
¿Qué es lo que sigue? ¿Hay alguna meta emocionante en el
horizonte?
Antes que nada, obviamente estoy emocionado por el lanzamiento de mi álbum “Keep Your Light in Everything” el 4 de julio. “X” es solo una de las 17 canciones del álbum, y tengo mucha curiosidad por ver cómo reaccionará la gente al tracklist completo. Mi segundo sencillo “Tension” saldrá el 13 de junio. Después del lanzamiento de “Keep Your Light in Everything”, creo que comenzaré a trabajar en mi tercer álbum de estudio. De hecho, ya tengo una idea o una dirección general para él. También podría haber otros proyectos fuera de la música que me gustaría explorar —quizá escribir una novela de ciencia ficción— pero todavía no hay nada concreto. Así que, una vez que “Keep Your Light in Everything” se lance el 4 de julio, mi plan es comenzar poco a poco la grabación de mi tercer álbum de estudio.
